Being a member of the SDA is important because I'm not good at speaking up so I need assitance to help negotiate on my behalf. 
Joining the union is the next best thing to having a guardian angel by your side and you can count on that!!
I call the union for handling problems if I ever have any in my workplace, they always respond in a fast and timely manner to help resolve them!
It's the protection of your job, it makes sense to be protected
The SDA has trialled having the ASKSDA service available on Saturdays for around 18 months. In that time, usage has been very low, with no signs that it is increasing. As such, we have decided that members’ resources are better allocated elsewhere and so the ASKSDA service will no longer operate on Saturdays. ASKSDA will continue to operate Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
